CRUB POP-UP SHOP, 15th-23rd February, 12-5pm
CRUB (club privée) POP-UP SHOP is held in a private house in Dalston. This is the fifth time CRUB POP-UP SHOP is opening up its doors and Swedish Vanessa, Momocreatura and Pam Hogg are joining alongside Noriko Okaku and Yoko Brown London.
Yoko Brown London Yoko Brown has been creating womenswear in London for over 20 years. She began by transforming pre-loved Jermyn Street tailored shirts into unique women’s pieces, each one individually crafted by hand. Recently she expanded her designs to include unisex frilled shirts. In addition to repurposed shirts, she also works with fine silk and high-quality cotton, including Liberty Tana Lawn fabrics, to create her signature frilled designs. At this pop-up shop, you’ll find her usual collection alongside CRUB collaborations with Noriko Okaku, including the Beer Towel Bags—each one individually crafted from vintage beer towels.
Noriko Okaku will be introducing her recent products, including the Pre-Mononoke creature bags, inspired by Tsukumokami—Mononoke spirits from Japanese folklore that inhabit old objects after 100 years, sometimes playful, sometimes vengeful. She will also feature her classic 'Daddio in the Sky' series sweatshirts and T-shirts, a project that explores how far a strong slogan can take us. Additionally, Noriko is excited to present the third and final limited edition box set of The Interpreter (2015) tarot cards, which has been out of stock for a while. If timing allows, Noriko will also be available for tarot readings. Alongside the jewellery, 'The Interpreter' collection will be available, crafted by Momocreatura.
Pam Hogg Pam Hogg is widely regarded as an icon of British fashion design. A romantic and renegade whose career has taken her from Glasgow via its world-renowned School of Art to the catwalks of London Fashion Week, the cover of ID Magazine, the wardrobes of superstars from Kylie to Lady Gaga and the walls of the world's top galleries. The Caledonian Queen of Cling has also shared a stage singing alongside rock and pop royalty. A champion of the underdog and the overlooked, she thrives on disorder, disruption and disarray. Flamboyant and fearless, Pam's work has always existed outside its time, season-less and visionary, and its resonance is as clear today as ever before, perhaps even more so as society begins to gaze inwards towards the radical beauty and chaos at its heart. She has spent almost four decades creating unconventional clothes for confident women, and her longevity as a designer is astonishing, with most of her contemporaries from that first new wave largely forgotten today.
Swedish Vanessa Vanessa Fristedt has been an image maker since the early naughties. With a background in graphic design and branding, she knows the power of visual communication. Inspired by the roulette table at the Casino, she has made cushions and fabric of jewellery, so you can now lock your gems in the safe and wear them on your sleeve - literally. A beautiful bespoke silk blouse/shirt has been made by Yoko Brown with this fabric. There is also the Bananas! cushions, an homage to Maurizio Cattelan + a few other playful surprises.
MOMOCREATURA is a London-based jewellery brand founded by Momo Tamura. With a background in fine arts and extensive training in jewellery making in both Japan and the UK, Momo established her unique jewellery line after graduating from Central St Martin’s College MA in London in 2009. The jewellery is handcrafted using recycled silver and gold at her atelier in Hatton Garden, London. MOMOCREATURA is showcasing the jewellery collection ‘The Interpreter’, paying homage to Noriko Okaku’s artwork, on 15th & 16th February.
